Chrysler Recalls ‘93 & ‘94 Minivans

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.--Owners of 1993 and 1994 Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler minivans have been notified that DaimlerChrysler Corp. is recalling the vehicles to reinforce the steering wheel.

The recall affects 769,000 Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan, Plymouth Voyager and Grand Voyager and Chrysler Town & Country minivans. (These vehicles are two generations removed from the current 2001 minivan.)

DaimlerChrysler has received about 70 reports of steering wheel damage, or about one per 11,000 vehicles. There have been no reported accidents or injuries.

Service technicians will install a plate to reinforce and strengthen the steering wheel.

The recall affects 679,000 vehicles in the United States; 72,000 in Canada and 18,000 in export markets.

Customers have been notified of the recall by mail and directed to call a nearby dealership to schedule the repair, which will be made at no cost.
