CompTire Buys 2 ISC CompTires

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--Competition Tire has bought Competition Tire West and Competition Tire South from International Speedway Corp. for $8 million.

The two purchases, known as CompTire West and CompTire South, are distributors of Goodyear racing tires in the midwest and southeastern United States. They had been acquired by ISC in July 1999 as part of its merger with Penske Motorsports Inc. Both companies are former Penske subsidiaries.

“The sale of CompTire West and CompTire South will allow us to better focus on growing our core business of motorsports entertainment,” said ISC’s Lee Combs,. “We believe the resources expended on the business of racing tire distribution will create more value when redirected toward our primary business of promoting successful motorsports events.”
