SportPaint Expands Paint Operation

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--SportPaint Inc., a privately held custom paint-finishing supplier for both the automotive and motorcycle industries, will break ground this month for a new 84,000-square foot facility here.

The $771,000 expansion is expected to be completed in December, said SportPaint President and Chief Operating Officer Thomas Cunningham.

SportPaint, which currently supplies custom paint finishes for components for Honda automobiles and Honda motorcycle parts, will incorporate into the new facility an overhead conveyor line for painting high volume automotive parts.

Cunningham said the new facility would allow the company to expand its manufacturing capability and remain centrally located in Louisville. Cunningham added that SportPaint would expand its workforce from 100 employees to 150 when the new facility is completed.

SportPaint, founded in 1995, also has two other plants in Louisville, a warehouse and a headquarters and administrative office.
