Lot Offers Oil, Detailing & Dry Cleaning

OAKLAND, Calif.--Ampco Express Airport Parking believes in service. Not only will a valet take your car at the entrance to the parking lot, but in addition to detailing your car or arranging an oil change--the valet can even get your dry cleaning done.

The auto detailing and oil changes have been popular, with perhaps 30 percent of the travelers requesting car washes and 10 percent requesting oil changes.

Although Ampco has been offering dry cleaning since it opened last spring, it has just started catching on this fall, according to John Hibbs, general manager of Ampco Express, located just south of Oakland International Airport. Hibbs isn’t sure whether that’s because it has simply taken time for the word to spread, or because fall wardrobes typically include more clothing that needs to be dry-cleaned.

“We had one person come in with 16 items last week, and another person brought ten,” said Hibbs.

“Today’s travelers are usually stressed for time,” said Hibbs. “We want to do everything we can to help them make use of their time--even their time when they’re away from home,” he added.

“We’ll consider almost any service that our customers want,” Hibbs said. “One person asked about boarding a dog, but we decided we really didn't want to open a kennel.”
