DENSO now offers domestic enthusiasts “Iridium Power.” Iridium is a metal that is six times harder and eight times stronger, and is capable of withstanding temperatures 1200° F hotter than platinum. The Iridium tip used on the center electrode is welded using a 360° Laser Welding Process pioneered and patented by DENSO. The plugs include a small center electrode at 0.4 mm in diameter and a tapered U-Groove ground electrode, which lowers required voltage and improves firing performance.
