Daewoo Opening Another Parts Center
COMPTON, Calif.--Daewoo Motor will expand its parts-distribution services and training center operations early next year with its Suwannee Creek Distribution Center in Suwannee, Ga., near Atlanta. The 212,445 square-foot facility will house parts inventory for the companys Lanos, Nubira and Leganza car line, as well as the Southeast Region Training Center.
Daewoos new facility will serve dealerships and customers on the entire Eastern Seaboard and portions of the Midwest. Daewoo says its steady sales growth and expanding customer service influenced the company to add a new location. While our current parts distribution service level is exceptional, this facility will serve to further improve our response to our Daewoo dealers, throughout the nation, said Ben Rainwater, Daewoos vice president of parts and service.
Currently, Daewoo maintains an 85,000-square-foot parts distribution center at its Compton, Calif. headquarters that serves more than 475 dealerships. The facility stocks a complete parts inventory and provides overnight delivery to the entire nation. All Daewoo dealerships are connected by the Daewoo Store Operating System which can deliver real-time information on parts availability, while an automatic restock and return program ensures that service facilities will have the right parts on hand at the right time.
Daewoos East Coast and Midwest sales nearly doubled in August, dictating enlarged customer service capabilities. The addition of this parts distribution facility, strategically located near Atlanta, fits perfectly with our market growth, expansion and customer service plans, explained Rainwater.
Construction of the new facility will begin in mid-December with a completion date of January 2001.
