Neiman Marcus T-Bird Sells-Out
DALLAS--It took Neiman Marcus just two hours and fifteen minutes to sell out of the 200 exclusive 2002 model year Thunderbirds offered for sale in the Christmas Edition Neiman Marcus catalog.
The sale is a world record for any vehicle offered through the Neiman catalogue, and the car sold out faster than many other products and events offered. A toll free phone number was published in Neimans Christmas Book and all 25 phone lines set up to take the calls were busy within 10 seconds as callers jammed the lines in search of the elusive T-Bird and their own piece of automotive history--prior to the vehicle even being built.
This shows that we have really hit the mark in terms of consumer excitement, said Thunderbird Brand Manager Mickey DArmi. This car sold out faster than an NSYNC concert. Thunderbird will be one of the hottest products on the planet when it comes out next year and this record sale shows that the public cant wait for the return of the classic American Dream Car--the Thunderbird.
The 2002 Neiman Marcus Edition car features a silver and black color theme and a removable top with the Thunderbird insignia etched into the porthole window. Inside the steering wheel and shift knob are silver, and understated Neiman Marcus emblems are featured on the instrument panel and floor mats. Collectors will be issued a special vehicle identification number (VIN) as a guarantee of authenticity. The Neiman Marcus Thunderbird is priced at $41,995.
The new 2002 model year Thunderbird will be on sale at Ford dealerships next summer.
