Acura Posts New February Sales Record
TORRANCE, Calif., March 1 Acura continued its
record-setting pace in February, posting a new record for the month with sales
of 13,677 vehicles, up 40.6 percent over the previous best, set in February
2000.
Year-to-date sales for Acura surged 39.1 percent to 26,068 vehicles on
continuing strong sales of the 3.2 TL sedan, 3.2 CL coupe and MDX
sport-utility vehicle.
"Sales of luxury vehicles continue to run strong," said Dick Colliver,
executive vice president of sales. "Acura's combination of outstanding
performance, luxury, quality and value is attracting discriminating consumers
in record numbers."
The 3.2 TL continues as the best-selling luxury sedan in the U.S. with
February sales of 5,878, up 4.7 percent over last year. Sales of the 3.2 CL
and 3.2 CL Type-S luxury performance coupes jumped 151.2 percent in to
1,656. The all-new MDX luxury sport-utility vehicle continues to build
momentum with sales of 3,798 for the month.
Acura will launch the first of its 2002 model year lineup in March. The
company's flagship 3.5 RL luxury sedans, with significant performance
enhancements, and the all-new 260-horsepower 3.2 TL Type-S sedan, arrive in
showrooms later this month.
