DaimlerChrysler Executive W. Frank Fountain Receives Soul and
Spirit Humanitarian Award
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 13 DaimlerChrysler Corporation
Senior Vice President of Government Affairs W. Frank Fountain received the
Soul and Spirit Humanitarian Award today during the annual Soul Food Luncheon
held in the chambers of United States Circuit Court Judge Damon J. Keith at
the U.S. Courthouse in Detroit.
Established in 1987 by Judge Keith, the Soul and Spirit Humanitarian Award
is presented annually during Black History Month to a black community leader
who has contributed the most to the advancement of black people and has
involved themselves in making life better for all in Metro Detroit and the
state of Michigan. Past award recipients include Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer;
Elliott Hall, a Vice President with Ford Motor Company; and Roy Roberts, a
former Vice President with General Motors.
"It's important to recognize those in the black community who have
contributed to the struggle," said Judge Keith. "Frank exemplifies what the
struggle is all about and has done so eloquently. It is with great honor that
we present this prestigious award to Frank."
Fountain has been with DaimlerChrysler since 1973 and is currently
responsible for analysis of state and local government legislative issues,
community relations, national education programs and the DaimlerChrysler
Corporation Fund, the company's philanthropic organization.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Fountain also serves on a
number of boards and is a member of many business and professional
organizations. Fountain is currently the Vice Chairperson of the Citizens
Research Council and a First Vice Chairperson of the Hampton University Board
of Trustees. He is also a member of the Wharton School Graduate Executive
Board. Other board seats include the Detroit Public School Board of
Education, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the
Metropolitan Affairs Coalition.
