Strong Suzuki Sales Start Year 31 Percent Ahead; Suzuki
Unaffected by Industry Sales Decline
BREA, Calif., Feb. 1 Beginning the new year with strong
sales, American Suzuki Motor Corporation posted a 31-percent increase over
January 2000. The XL-7 recorded 1,092 sales in its first month on the market,
while the Grand Vitara posted 1,273 sales for January. The Esteem Sedan and
Wagon started the year with 1,027 sales, a solid 39-percent increase over
sales for the same period last year.
"Although the industry was down this month, Suzuki still climbed above
last January's sales," said Gary Anderson, vice president of sales. "Our new
XL-7 is receiving positive feedback from journalists and dealers alike, and
this, coupled with our new 'It Fits' national advertising campaign, has helped
drive new customers to buy our largest, most versatile SUV and increase
overall sales."
