NHRA: Chuck Etchells on RPM2Night on Sunday
9 December 2000
Putnam, Connecticut, December 8, 2000 - Chuck Etchells, who earlier this week announced that he would be returning to the driver's seat of his Kendall Motor Oil/Matco Tools Camaro Z28 Nitro Funny Car, will be a featured guest on this weekend's edition of RPM2Night. The show is scheduled to air on Sunday, December 10 at 9:00 p.m. (Eastern) on ESPN2. RPM2Night is ESPN's year-round motorsports magazine show. Although the weekday show is currently on hiatus during racing's "off-season", race fans can keep up-to-date on the happenings in the world of motorsports by joining host Whit Watson every Sunday night throughout the winter. Etchells is a thirteen-time NHRA national event winner, the 1990 IHRA World Champion, and the first driver to post a four second elapsed time in a Nitro Funny Car. His return to full-time competition will come just two years after his final victory at the 1998 Winston Finals in Pomona. Etchells' comeback will be aided by the presence of a teammate, as veteran Jim Epler will be joining the team as the pilot of a second Etchells Racing entry, the Racing Champions/Matco Tools Camaro. In addition to this weekend's original airtime, the show will be rebroadcast on Monday, December 11 at 2:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (All times listed are Eastern. Please check your local listings.)
