SCCA: Valvoline Runoffs Quick Facts
22 September 2000
DID YOU KNOW? Roughly 650 top amateur road racers will compete for SCCA National Championships during 24 races over three days at the Valvoline Runoffs®. Just to realize the magnitude of the event, consider the following facts: 24 races x 20 laps each = 480 laps of racing for spectators 650 cars x 20 laps = 13,000 total laps if every car completed every race lap 13,000 laps x 2.4 miles (length of track) = 31,200 miles, which is 6,298 miles MORE than the equatorial circumference of the Earth! 650 cars x 15 turns x 20 laps = 195,000 total turns if every car completed every race lap These numbers do not even include the laps turned during the four days of practice and qualifying!
