Dallara creates faster cars and decreases manufacturing time for Indy Racing League chassis and Formula 3 race cars with PTC flexible engineering solutions WALTHAM, Mass., Aug. 21 PTC , a leading provider of collaborative product commerce (CPC) solutions, today announced a new performance team partnership with Dallara Automobili S.r.l. of Italy. Dallara uses PTC's flexible engineering solutions, including Pro/ENGINEER, Pro/MECHANICA, and ICEM software to design Formula 3 cars and Indy Racing League chassis. Dallara has seen proven results using PTC solutions since 1993 and will extend their commitment as a PTC performance team partner. Using PTC's solutions to design the 2000 Indy Racing League chassis, Dallara was able to utilize its experience over the last seven years to improve its chassis design. Dallara focused the majority of their research and development efforts on the aerodynamic development of the car. By using PTC's flexible engineering solutions, Dallara was able to test the aerodynamics during the development stage, resulting in substantial drag reduction, and improving the level of downforce developed for the 1999 model. "With our solutions, Dallara is able to test their chassis designs early in the process, allowing them complete confidence that their designs meet performance and safety objectives," said Jon Stevenson, executive vice president and general manager, MCAD at PTC. "We are excited by Dallara's commitment to our products, and with the addition of Dallara as a performance team partner." "This partnership demonstrates our high-regard for PTC and the PTC solutions. Since our founding, we have aimed to improve the quality of production and guarantee our clientele receives an increasingly reliable and competitive product," said Mr. Dallara, founder and sole owner, Dallara Automobili. "Our PTC-based system enables us to incorporate our experience from past designs into our new designs. By using PTC's flexible engineering solutions, we are able to optimize the designs of our chassis, while significantly reducing the development time." PTC and Dallara teamed up earlier this year to design a EUROC class racecar across 3 continents in only 7 days, by using the Internet and PTC's powerful software solutions. The design process was accessible to anyone on the Internet and may be reviewed online at http://www.shapinginnovation.com.
