CART: Tony Kanaan Post Race Notes and Quotes, Elkhart Lake

21 August 2000

Tony Kanaan and the #55 Hollywood/Mo Nunn Racing Mercedes-Benz Reynard
finished eighth in today’s Motorola 220 at Road America. Kanaan started
17th and worked his way up to sixth with 10 laps to go when the car
developed an intermittent misfire. Down on power the rest of the way,
Kanaan lost two spots – to Memo Gidley and Max Papis – and had to settle
for a season-high-tying eighth-place finish. Paul Tracy won today for
the second time this season.

The next stop on the tour is the Molson Indy Vancouver in two weeks
(Sept. 1-3), Round 15 of the 20-race CART FedEx Championship Series for
2000.

TONY KANAAN

“We had an excellent race car today and I was feeling pretty good about
how things were going when all of a sudden something went wrong. We
developed a misfire, and it cost us at least a sixth-place finish. All
things considered, we ended up eighth after a frustrating two days of
practice and qualifying. On we go to Vancouver. I can feel our luck
improving, maybe just a little bit!”
