RACEWAY PARK DRIVERS SWEEP FINALS, TEAM HONORS


        READING, Pa. - The inaugural NHRA Castrol GTX Jr. Drag Racing
League Eastern Conference Finals concluded at Maple Grove Raceway Saturday
with champions being crowned in eight eliminator categories.
        With more than 550 drivers, representing 65 NHRA member tracks,
competing for honors the action was furious throughout the day, the young
drivers' skills parlaying into event victories.
        The prestigious Team Championship went to Old Bridge Township
Raceway Park, the New Jersey track having trailed both Maple Grove Raceway
and 75-80 Drag-A-Way through most of the day until the final rounds of
competition, when three of their drivers claimed individual event honors.
        Individual event honors fell to Timmy DiIorio in the 8-9 age
category and representing Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.  The victory in
the 10 year age group went to Cameron Dickerson of JAX Raceway in
Jacksonville, Fla.  Joshua Gamber claimed the 11 year age group for
Mason-Dixon Dragway of Hagerstown, Md.  The 12 year age group went to
Garret Struck of Gainesville Raceway, Gainesville, Fla.  One of two female
drivers to claim victories, Mary Jo West won the 13 year age group for
Cayuga International Dragway in Cayuga, Ontario, Canada.  14-year-old Vinny
Giaccio was another victor from Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.  Heather
Kubicke of Moroso Motorsports Park claimed the 15 year age group title, and
completing Old Bridge Township Raceway Park's sweep of final rounds was Joe
Santangelo, who won the 16-17 age group.
