NHRA FMDRS: Strasburg and Moats lead the way at Bandimere Speedway

DENVER - In the first rounds of qualifying at Bandimere Speedway's
Thunder on the Mountain event, Federal-Mogul Dragster driver Mike Strasburg
and Federal-Mogul Funny Car pilot Vern Moats took the No. 1 qualifying
positions in their respective classes.
Strasburg, of Lindon, Utah, outran the field with a pass of 5.774
seconds at 244.12 mph. Des Moines, Iowa, resident Moats made a
5.992-second, 236 mph pass to take the pole.
Top qualifiers in other classes are Charlie Stewart of Arlington,
Texas, in Comp; Randall Klein of Lincoln, Neb., in Super Stock and Fred
Rector of Durango, Colo., in Stock.
Qualifying and time trials continue Saturday at Bandimere Speedway.
Gates open at 8:30 a.m. and racing begins at 9 a.m.
