MISC: Motorsports family member Larry Nuber found dead at home
9 June 2000
Wynn Oil Company received very sad and tragic news on Thursday, June 8. Larry Nuber was found deceased in his home in Indianapolis by the local police department, who had been called in by relatives concerned because they had not heard from him in several days. His body will be taken to his parents' home in Toledo, Ohio, where services will be arranged. Larry was one the most esteemed and dearest members of the Wynn's family. He had managed every aspect of the Wynn's Racing Program throughout the past several years. In that capacity, he had become extremely familiar to all members of the Wynn's distribution channel and business network. His knowledge of the Motorsports industry was uniquely comprehensive, and his ability to perform the multitude of various details that comprise the sponsorship of racing teams, circuits, events, and the promotional merchandising that is an essential component of the implementation of any of those efforts, was recognized to be absolutely unparalleled in the sport. More than any other single person or development, Larry Nuber was responsible for making the Wynn's Racing Program one of the most consistently successful and highly regarded ones in the entire racing business. The success of the Wynn's Racing Program stimulated business achievement and prosperity for the Wynn's marketing efforts that have been felt by every member of the Wynn's network, regardless of their level of direct involvement or participation in the program . Larry formally occupied the role of a special consultant and vendor to our racing activities. He is irreplaceable in that regard. Much more significantly than that, Larry possessed a personal energy, positive outlook, and human compassion that made working with him not only an extreme pleasure, but actually personally uplifting. He genuinely cared about the people he dealt with, the relevance of every task he undertook, and the goal of making each day produce meaningful results. Those qualities were evident in everything he did every day we have known him. No individual in our organization excelled at their work functions at a level of professionalism that was any higher than Larry Nuber's. And, as we all know, no one loved the sport of racing more passionately than Larry did.
