CART: Tenneco Automotive Detroit Grand Prix confirmed for 2001

6 June 2000

June 6, 2000 -- Detroit, Michigan -- The 2001 Tenneco Automotive Detroit
Grand Prix -- sanctioned by CART -- will take place next year as planned.
There was an inaccurate report carried in the June 4 edition of the
Indianapolis Star that indicated that there would not be a 2001 Championship
Auto Racing Teams (CART) race in Detroit.

"The Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit will celebrate its 20th
Anniversary next year. It's very disappointing to all of us that someone
would take the time to inaccurately report the status of Detroit's race."
commented Grand Prix President Bud Stanner. "A few months ago, CART asked
us to locate a new racing venue for any events after the 2001 racing season.
We are involved in that process now."

"Reports of a discussion of a buy-out of the remainder of the contract of
the Detroit Grand Prix are entirely false," stated Andrew Craig, CART
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer. "CART has a contract with IMG that
covers the years 2000 and 2001. In fact we are currently working closely
with IMG to locate and secure an alternative race venue in Detroit for
future years."
