20 May 2000

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (May 19, 2000): NHRA stars Whit Bazemore and Tom Hammonds
will take to the high banks of Wall Stadium on Saturday night. Following
their NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series qualifying sessions at the Matco Tools
Spring Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown,
Whit and Tom will head to nearby Wall Stadium to drive asphalt modifieds on
the one-third-mile, 33-degree oval track in Wall, N.J.

Whit and Tom were invited to race at this local circle track by Bill
Johnson and Tucker Nicol, owners of Kelle Chevrolet in Farmingdale, N.J.
Nicol owns Wall Stadium, and Kelle Chevrolet has sponsored the Saturday
night races there for 15 years.

Asphalt modifieds are open-wheeled custom-built race cars with sheet
metal resembling older model Chevy Cavaliers and powered by small-block 355
cu. in. carbureted Chevy V8 motors.

Whit and Tom will race the Greg Yock-owned No. 85 and the No. 40 owned
by Tim Shinn and sponsored by United Crane Rentals.

Bazemore, 37, of Indianapolis, drives the Kendall Oil/Matco Tools
Camaro Z28 in NHRA¹s Funny Car category, and is eighth in Winston
Championship points. Tom Hammonds, 33, of Crestview, Fla., power forward
for the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA basketball team, is making his first NHRA
Drag Racing appearance of the year this weekend in Englishtown. Tom drives
the Winnebago/GM Performance Parts Camaro Z28 in the Pro Stock category. He
will compete in 13 NHRA events this season.

Saturday night¹s activities at Wall Stadium begin at 7 p.m. Tom and
Whit will compete in a one-on-one match race, three 10-lap heats and one
30-lap main feature.

Wall Stadium hosts these races every Saturday night from April through
October, with a November Turkey Derby finishing off each season.
