12 May 2000
MOM'S NASCAR "VICTORY LAP" ON TAP FOR IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY NIGHT MAY 13 Irwindale, Calif. - - In honor of Mother's Day, all Moms in attendance this Saturday night (MAY 13) at Irwindale Speedway will be invited to take a special "Victory Lap" in their own car right after the final race of the night. "We wanted to salute all the Moms and what better way than to give them a lap of honor on Mother's Day Eve," said track GM, Robert DeFazio. Cars taking part in the special lap (kids and dads are certainly welcome as passengers) will stage at the southeastern corner of the facility right after the conclusion of the final race. On tap for the night's racing will be the highly competitive NASCAR Late Models led by Goleta's James Weston winner of two races so far this season. Weston will be followed closely by race winners David Hessing (1win) from Canyon Country and Todd Burns (2 wins) from Riverside. Rookie sensation Tony Green, after a number of strong top 5 finishes, will be gunning for his first win and wanting it bad. Also on the card for Saturday night's tribute to Mom are the always exciting NASCAR Super Stocks, the MSRA Pro4 Modifieds, the USAC open-wheel TQ Midgets, and those crazy Figure 8 cars. All in all a great combination for a neat night of racing.
