Tony Kanaan was third-fastest in this morning’s opening session and

session some 20 minutes early. Kenny Brack was fastest overall on the
day with his lap of 26.072 seconds (213.885 mph) in the afternoon
session.

Practice resumes Friday morning with qualifying set for 1:15 p.m. local
time. Saturday’s race, Round Five on this year’s 20-event CART FedEx
Championship Series, is set for noon, local time, (11 p.m. EDT Friday)
with an ABC-TV tape-delayed broadcast on tap for 1 p.m. EDT.

TONY KANAAN

“It was a good-news, bad-news kind of a day. We got off to a great
start this morning and I definitely feel we are headed in the right
direction. The unfortunate thing is we had our share of problems in the
afternoon session, which is very frustrating after all the momentum we
had going this morning. Hopefully, our problems are behind us. The
outlook for us during qualifying and the race is good. Tomorrow’s
another day and I’m looking forward to a fresh start.”
