14 April 2000

Federal-Mogul Engine Parts Brands Add Top Fuel Champion Tony Schumacher To NHRA Drag Racing Sponsorship Package

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 13 Federal-Mogul Corporation
(NYSE: FMO), the title sponsor of all National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)
sportsman drag racing, has expanded its involvement in the professional ranks
through a sponsorship agreement with reigning NHRA Winston Top Fuel Champion
Tony Schumacher.
The company's leading three brands of replacement engine components --
Fel-Pro(R) gaskets, Sealed Power(R) engine components and Champion(R) spark
plugs -- will appear on the body of Schumacher's Exide Batteries Dragster, as
well as on driver and crew uniforms. The Sealed Power logo will also appear
on the car's parachute.
"Our engine parts family represents the finest technology in the
automotive and high-performance markets, and what better way to communicate
that fact than through a partnership with the defending Winston Top Fuel
champion," said Shelley Pepmeier, motorsports manager for Federal-Mogul.
"This is far more than a case of Tony displaying our logos -- he relies on
Sealed Power, Fel-Pro and Champion products every day, as do winners in every
form of motorsports."
In addition to his 1999 Winston Top Fuel championship, Schumacher holds
the distinction of having recorded the five highest speeds in NHRA history,
including a 330.23-mph run at the 1999 CSK Nationals in Phoenix. He claimed
the first event win of his four-year career at the 1999 O'Reilly Fall
Nationals in Dallas and has a win and two runner-up finishes in five events
this year.
