NHRA FMDRS Saturday Update Tucson, Ariz.

Elimination Pairings Set at Southwestern International Raceway

        TUCSON, Ariz. - Southwestern International Raceway, host to the
NHRA Pacific Division Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series this weekend, has
finished the qualifying rounds in both Federal-Mogul Dragster and
Federal-Mogul Funny Car categories under clear but windy conditions. 
 Rick Santos of San Leandro, Calif. opted not to run in the final
qualifying session content with his track record pass of 5.389 seconds at
258.07 mph, while Brandon Henkelman of San Jose, Calif. improved his time
to 5.469 seconds at 248.43 seconds to remain in the number two spot.  
Larry Miner of Woodbridge, Calif. remains as the top qualifier in the
Federal-Mogul Funny Car category with a time of time of 5.722 seconds at
250.04 mph, followed by John Weaver of Hanford, Calif. who improved his
time with a pass of 5.766 seconds at 248.66 mph.    

        The first round of eliminations will begin at 5:30pm today in
Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car.  Results to follow
immediately after.

        The following are Saturday's final qualifying results from the NHRA
Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series event at Southwestern International
Raceway:
