Tracks: Werner Named Motorplex General Manager

(Ennis, TX) December 5, 1999 --- Texas Motorplex owner and president Billy Meyer, announced this week that Elon Werner has been promoted to General Manager of the Texas Motorplex effective immediately. Werner, 30, previously held the position of Director of Media Services since 1994 and will now handle all day-to-day business and race operations as well as oversee the corporate development, marketing services, and media relations departments for the NHRA sanctioned track. " Elon has been a great asset to the Texas Motorplex for the last six years. I'm confident in this new position he will continue to grow and lead the track into the new millennium. His personality and his ability to get the job done are his two biggest assets and strengths. As General Manager he will be asked to deal with a variety of people in all sort of situations, I feel he will excel in those situations," said Texas Motorplex owner Billy Meyer. " I am thankful to Billy for giving me this opportunity. We have a great staff at the Texas Motorplex and my goals are to increase the growth pattern we have established over the last few years and insure that NHRA Winston Drag Racing stays at the forefront in the sporting and entertainment community. The Dallas/ Ft. Worth market is one of the most competitive entertainment markets in the country and I plan to make sure the Texas Motorplex continues to be recognized as one of the finest facilities in the area, " said Werner. Werner graduated from Austin College, in Sherman, Texas with a business administration degree in 1992. Since joining the Motorplex staff in 1994 he has coordinated the Dallas Motorsports Expo, State Fair of Texas exhibits, and won the NHRA Division Four Media Award. He resides in Cedar Hill, Texas, with his wife Jennifer and daughter Abigail Faith.
