Lebanon Valley Finale - Results & Report

20 September 1999

JOHN DENUE AND TOM SANCHEZ JR. CLAIM CHAMPIONSHIPS
AT LEBANON VALLEY FINALE

WEST LEBANON, NY-The 1999 racing season at the Lebanon Valley Speedway came
to a close Saturday night as Speed's Garage and Dick's Automotive sponsored
the evening's events. Along with the final point races for the Rookie Street
Stock and Pure Stock Divisions over 80 cars entered for a chance to claim the
$1,000.00 to win up for grabs for the last cannonball run event of the
century. The Pure Stocks also got a chance to run a 20-lap feature event and
the Street Stocks ran a 12-lap feature.

In one of the closest point races of all the divisions this season the Rookie
Street Stocks came down to the last race to decide their champion. John Denue
and Brian Keough had swapped the point lead over the past few weeks and Danny
Burl, who moved up to the Rookie's after starting the season in the Pure
Stocks made a hard charge at the two front runners to claim the 3rd place
position in points. Henry Warner and Earl Mellan rounded out the top five in
Rookie Street Stock Points.

After finishing in the runner-up spot in the Pure Stock points in 1998 Tom
Sanchez Jr. set his sights on the 1999 championship early. Tom recorded 7
wins in 99 and never finished out of the top 10. Peter De Figlio, George
Miles Jr., Bob Palmer and Tim Drumm finished 2nd through 5th in the final
Pure Stock standings for 1999.

Speed's Garage and Dick's Automotive sponsored the nights racing and in the
Street Stock feature everything went Robbie Speed's way. He captured his
second feature event of the year from his front row starting position,
leading every lap. Danny Sanchez was second followed by last Saturday's
winner Dave Kokindo, Ricky Duzlak and Bobby Blackburn.

The Rookie Street Stock race winner was Earl Mellan. By virtue of his
second place finish John Denue captured the Rookie Street Stock championship,
Phil Moffitt was third, followed by Rick Spencer and Don Shepard rounding out
the top five.

In the Pure Stock division Darryl Baker was the winner of the A race, Joe
Mottoshiski was the winner of the B race and Peter De Figlio won the C race.
The Pure Stocks were given a rare opportunity Saturday night. The top eight
finishers in each of the A, B & C races qualified for a 20-lap feature race.
Each racer put up a $10 entry fee and the money was paid out to the top ten
finishers in the feature.

Peter De Figlio was the winner of the Pure Stock feature after starting
last. Bob Palmer finished second followed by George Miles Jr., Anthony
Cotugno and Nathan Harvey.

Rick Dempsey won the $1,000 to win cannonball with Kenny Van Alphen,
Grant Wescott, Richie Sanford and John Hughes rounding out the top five.
