The Autolite(R) Nationals Set for Sears Point Raceway, August 6-8

    SONOMA, Calif., Aug. 5 -- Once again, Autolite is the title
sponsor of the Autolite Nationals in Sonoma, California.  This event is an
important part of AlliedSignal's motorsports marketing program.
    For nearly 40 years, the AlliedSignal Consumer Products Group brands -
Autolite(R), FRAM(R) and Prestone(R) - have relied on the tremendous power of
motorsports marketing to drive sales and name recognition.  The company's
significant investment into its 1999 motorsports program includes being the
title sponsor of NHRA events like the Autolite Nationals, NASCAR events, and
the sponsorship of many NHRA and NASCAR drivers and teams.  These sponsorships
also lend their power to everything from advertising and promotions to
merchandising materials.
    Probably the most important goal of the AlliedSignal motorsports program
is to build name recognition and brand equity for the Autolite, FRAM and
Prestone names among customers, consumers and the community.  According to
Brian McInerney, Director of the Autolite brand, "Our involvement in
motorsports enables us to keep the Autolite name top of mind with our most
important customers.  The track is also the perfect proving ground for our
spark plug technology.  In fact, it is estimated that nearly 50% of
professional NHRA and NASCAR cars today use either FRAM filters, Autolite
spark plugs or both."
    AlliedSignal's motorsports marketing program also includes Autolite's
sponsorship of the NASCAR Busch Series Platinum 250 in Richmond, Virginia,
Sept.10, and FRAM's title sponsorship of the FRAM Route 66 Nationals in
Joliet, IL.  In addition, Prestone has teamed up with three-time Winston Cup
Champion Jeff Gordon and has been designated the official antifreeze of
NASCAR.
