"Phoenix is a great place to race. I've run the Copper World Classic for about the last 15 years, a long time before the Winston Cup cars started running there. Before I ever raced there in a stock car I won there four times in a Midget and three times in a Silver Crown car. Phoenix has been really good to us, so I think we are just as much of a favorite there as anyone. I've got two Winston Cup pole positions there and last year I won the pole position in the Busch race. Phoenix has always been a strong track for me for whatever reason."--Ken Schrader

* The familiar "M&M's" Pontiac will sport a different paint scheme at Phoenix International Raceway this weekend. PEDIGREE Brand Food for Dogs will be the primary sponsor of the No. 36 Pontiac in support of their national crusade to aid homeless pets. M&M/MARS, the manufacturer of "M&M's" Chocolate Candies, is a sister company to Kal Kan Foods, Inc., manufacturer of PEDIGREE Brand Food for Dogs.

* Ken Schrader has logged his fair share of laps at Phoenix International Raceway. Long before he made his Winston Cup debut at the track, he spent time piloting an open-wheel car around the track. Schrader took the checkered flag three times in a Silver Crown and four times in a Midget before making his move to stock cars.

* Schrader has spent many January days in Phoenix as part of the Copper World Classic, the season opener at Phoenix International Raceway. Schrader estimates he has competed in the Copper World Classic for the past 15 years.

* With a lot of laps under his belt at Phoenix International Raceway, Schrader's expertise at the track showed when the Winston Cup Series made its debut at the Arizona track in 1988. In his 12 starts at the track he has accumulated two pole positions and one outside pole position as well as four top 10s. He's started outside the top 10 only twice.
