LONG BEACH, Calif. - Jim Michaelian, Chief Operating
Officer for the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach (GPALB), announced
today that Kevin O'Brien has been named to the position of Director of
Sales
and Marketing Services for the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach.
O'Brien replaces Mike Clark, who has resigned to accept a position with Panoz Motorsports of Braselton, Georgia.
The 47-year-old O'Brien will be responsible for corporate sponsorship sales and client liaison for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. He will continue his current duties managing GPALB's marketing services, public relations / communications departments.
"The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and our parent company, Dover Downs Entertainment, Inc., are grateful for Mike Clark's 12 years of dedicated service," said Michaelian. "His efforts on behalf of the Grand Prix were a major contributor to the success of the event, and we wish him well in his new position.
"At the same time, we are delighted that Kevin will be assuming the sales responsibilities," Michaelian added. "One of the measures of a strong company is its ability to promote from within. Kevin's knowledge of the sponsorship process and familiarity with a great many of our clients will enable us to make the transition smoothly and seamlessly. His efforts will add immeasurably to the ongoing success of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and other company related projects including marketing services for Laguna Seca Raceway."
O'Brien joined the company in January 1998 and is a 26-year veteran marketing and public relations executive in the sports marketing and special events industry. During his career, O'Brien has served with various organizations including Championship Auto Racing Teams, Inc. (CART), the Adolph Coors Company and teams affiliated with the National Hockey League (NHL).
O'Brien's appointment is effective immediately and a search will be conducted to seek an individual for the position of public relations manager for the GPALB.
