During the first qualifying session Mike Coughlin and his Chevy S-10 took on the left lane. The Jegs machine followed the groove to the big end. Mike ran a 7.665 at 176.05 mph and landed in the No. 9 spot after the first of four scheduled qualifying sessions.

"It is always nice to make a good run right out of the trailer," said Mike. "We have a solid baseline to tune from after the first session."

John Coughlin rolled into the right lane. The yellow and black Jegs Mail Order S-10 was hurt by the initial launch from the starting line. John ran a 7.706 at 175.07 mph and wound up in the No. 21 spot.

"The first 60-feet really hurt us during the first qualifying session," explained John. "We will use what we learned from my run and my brothers run to improve."

Mike and his Jegs machine improved in the second session. The yellow and black Chevy S-10 blasted down the groove to the stripe. Mike ran a 7.621 at 176.84 mph and moved up to the No. 6 spot. He was the sixth quickest of the session.

"That was what we were looking for," said Mike. "We now have a solid run in each lane. That will help us improve further tomorrow."

John also improved his qualifying position. He laid down a 7.635 at 175.18 mph and took over the No. 10 position after two sessions.

"We are moving in the right direction," noted John. "The data that we have from both of our trucks helped us during the second session. I am really looking forward to tomorrow."
