FORT WORTH-DALLAS - Racing excitement returns to Texas Motor Speedway with the Oct. 13 O'Reilly 400 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event and the Oct. 15 Excite 500 Indy Racing Northern Light Series championship race. Fans will also have a chance to see the return of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws in the O'Reilly Texas Showdown at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track Oct. 12 and 14.

"It's once again come down to the final race to determine this year's Indy Racing champion," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "Our June Indy Racing event was the most exciting race in motorsports history and the fans will see the same kind of show in the Excite 500."

Three drivers have still have a chance to win the Indy Racing championship. Points leader Buddy Lazier, Scott Goodyear and Eddie Cheever are all in contention to take home the Northern Light Cup as the series champion.

"It was really wonderful crowning defending series champion Greg Ray last year following our race," said Gossage. "The fans stuck around and were invited to come down and take part in the celebration. It was great and we plan to do the same thing again this year."

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader Greg Biffle returns to Texas hoping to repeat his trip to victory lane in the June truck race and solidify his standing in the points. There is only one truck race left in the season following the O'Reilly 400.

"The NASCAR Craftsman Trucks have done very well here at Texas. The fans really support the series and we expect to have the second- or third-largest crowd of the season for the O'Reilly 400."

Fifteen-time Outlaws champion Steve Kinser leads the way back to Texas as he closes in on his sixteenth career Pennzoil World of Outlaws championship.

"Kinser is a legend in Outlaws racing," said Gossage. "He has a strong following and I'm sure his fans will be out in force to see him try to get his first win at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track."
