NHRA Pro Stock points leader Jeg Coughlin, Jr. and his familiar yellow and
black Jeg's Mail Order Olds Cutlass have been to the last three final
rounds.
He has walked away with two wins (US Nationals & Matco Tools Spring
SuperNationals) and a runner up (Colonel's Truck Accessories Nationals).
His
recent performance looks a lot like his early season charge when he won
six
of the first seven races.Jeg has 1519 points and holds a commanding lead of 381 points over his closest competitor. Having a lead of over 19 rounds with six races (24 rounds) remaining in the season is impressive. Don't expect to see any change in attitude or focus from Coughlin.
"We have six races left in the season," said Jeg. "Our teams focus is on what is in front of us not what is behind us! We want nothing more than to successfully defend last years win in Reading."
Troy Coughlin is resting in the No. 5 position in the NHRA Winston points. He has 894 points and is 122 points from taking over the No. 4 spot. Troy has shown how consistency in qualifying can pay off. He is the only Pro Stock driver in the top seven who has not won a NHRA national event this season.
Troy has two runner up finishes (Mac Tools Gatornationals & Prestone Nationals). In addition, he was the winner of the prestigious Winston Showdown and was the runner up in the Holley Dominator Duel.
"One of my biggest goals this year is to qualify at every race. So far this has happened and it is a trend that we will work hard at continuing," said Troy. "We have everything in place for me to win my first professional NHRA national event this weekend at the Keystones."
