SPEEDROME HOSTS THURSDAY NIGHT RACING PROGRAM
Rick Treadway of Indianapolis, Ind. scored his fifth victory of the 2000 season in Wednesday night's 40-lap feature event at Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind., solidifying his position among the leaders in the Indianapolis Speedrome Regional Midget Car Series standings.
Rick caught Daryl Campbell on the 13th lap around the 3/10-mile paved oval, then led the final 28 laps in his MCI WorldCom/Sunoco/Miller Lite/McClure Oil/Sanders Sports Marketing Gaerte. Campbell finished a close second ahead of Brad Kuhn, Pete Bitting and David Fuhrman.
Campbell maintains a 12-point lead over Kuhn in the new series points going into next Thursday night's events at the Indianapolis Speedrome. The August 24 race is one day removed from the original August 23 date to avoid conflict with Wednesday night's "Mel Kenyon Classic" MCI WorldCom USAC National Midget Car race at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Treadway, Wednesday night's fastest qualifier, ranks fourth in the current series standings, only 40 behind Campbell and only six behind third-ranking Fuhrman. A total of 175 points are available at each event.
Preliminary heats at New Castle were won by Kuhn and Matt Maners. Maners led the opening lap of the feature before yielding to Campbell.
