J.J. Ercse of Lakewood, Calif., USAC's 1993 MCI WorldCom TQ Midget Car Champion, has two victories and a second at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway already this season. He'll try to add win number three this Saturday night when the series returns for another 20-lap contest on the 1/3-mile paved oval.

Ercse won at Irwindale on April 22 and July 8 but took second behind Walt Johnson on May 13. He leads Johnson by 31 points in the series standings in quest of a second championship.

Other 2000 race winners in the TQ Midget Car series this season have been Ron Wade and Dennis Hart (twice each) and Greg Edenholm. Edenholm and Wade rank third and fourth in the points going into Saturday's Irwindale events.
