Rick Treadway of Indianapolis, Ind. scored his second victory of
the 2000
Indianapolis Speedrome Regional Midget Car campaign Wednesday night,
leading
the final nine laps after passing Jerry Frickman on lap 42.
Frickman led the first 41 laps after starting on the pole, but Treadway caught him in traffic and went on the win over Frickman, Brad Kuhn, Norm Young and Sondi Eden. Treadway drove his MCI WorldCom/Sunoco/Miller Lite/McClure Oil/Sanders Sports Marketing Gaerte to the victory. Eric Roberts and Eden won the preliminary heat races.
Mel Kenyon, USAC's only seven-time National Midget Car Champion, made his 2000 Speedrome debut but was the first driver to retire from the feature event, finishing 16th.
Kuhn emerged with a 32-point lead over Daryl Campbell, who failed to finish Wednesday night's 50-lapper. The series continues next Wednesday night, July 5, with another 50-lap feature on tap.
