Brad Kuhn of Danville, Ind. recorded his initial USAC feature
victory in
Wednesday night's wild 50-lap Regional Midget Car event at the
Indianapolis
Speedrome.Kuhn was running second when a yellow flag waved with two laps remaining in the race but caught Daryl Campbell on the restart. The two tangled, however, on the final lap, but Kuhn was placed in front on the ensuing restart and led the final two laps for the win in his Infinity Products/Avon Transmission/Dugan Chevrolet VW.
Cole Carter, the son of former USAC racing champion Pancho Crater, finished second ahead of Brice Kenyon, the son of 7-time USAC National Midget Champion Mel Kenyon. John Batts and David Fuhrman rounded out the "top-five" at the checkered flag.
Joe Justice led the first 14 laps of the race before yielding to Campbell, who was trying to score his fourth consecutive Speedrome triumph. Heat race victories went to Kuhn and Jason Burgess.
Campbell, despite failing to finish the race, maintains a 15-point lead over Kuhn in the Speedrome standings going into next Wednesday night's events, which again will be capped by a 50-lap feature.
