Herndon, VA - Planning is currently underway for the
first
annual Washington, D. C. Motorsports Expo, slated for December 8-10, 2000
at the Capitol Expo Center in Chantilly, VA.
The three-day show is expected to draw participants from all fields of automobile racing to view the latest in motorsports technologies, attend technical seminars and bench race with friends and colleagues. The Manufacturer's Midway will feature equipment manufacturers, sanctioning bodies, speedways, race teams and their sponsors.
Demonstrations and seminars will address a wide range of topics, ranging from chassis setup, tire selection and race preparation to a discussion concerning getting started in racing. A demonstration of the latest in-car television camera technologies is sure to be a highlight of the show for racers and fans alike.
Fans of automobile racing will be delighted by driver autograph sessions, all the latest motorsports memorabilia and a chance to get up close and personal with drivers and racing machinery, from Formula One to karts.
Daily driver autograph sessions will feature professional drivers from the top levels of the sport. Negotiations are currently underway with several drivers competing in NASCAR, NHRA and Indianapolis-style racing.
Race cars on display will include everything from a West McLaren Grand Prix car, tentatively scheduled to be exhibited by Bridgestone/Firestone, to two-cylinder racing karts from the World Karting Association. Motorsports displays will not be limited to the four-wheel variety as participants in powerboat racing have expressed an interest in exhibiting their racers too.
Ten Tenths, Inc., promoter of the Washington D. C. Motorsports Expo, has just launched the show's website, which can be located by pointing your web browser to www.motorsportexpo.com. The website includes a show schedule, an application for exhibit space, information on area demographics, and contact information for Washington D.C. Motorsports Expo and the Capitol Expo Center.
"We've been very pleased with the initial interest in the show," said show manager David Reininger. "I'm planning a multifaceted exposition. Our goal is to produce a show that will not only interest hardcore racers with the Manufacturer's Midway, but will also provide a full day of motorsports entertainment for fans of all types of automobile racing. That's why I'm so pleased to have interest from the so many different types of automobile racing, including stock cars, sports cars, drag racers, even power boats."
"This is a great opportunity for a manufacturer to exhibit their products or for a race team to gain exposure for their sponsor."
