F2000 CHAMPIONSHIP CONTINUES SATURDAY NIGHT AT IRP
Teammates Marc-Antoine Camirand of Trois Rivieres, Quebec, Canada and Peter Walsh of Cork, Ireland captured US F2000 National Championship feature events this past weekend at Mosport International Raceway northeast of Toronto.
Camirand led all 20 laps around the 2.459-mile circuit in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada Saturday, then Walsh led the final four laps to win Sunday's 20-lap race.
Camirand and Aaron Justus captured pole starting positions for the two races but Justus' bid for victory ended on lap 17 of Sunday's race when Walsh out-dragged him on the back straight to take the lead. Justus finished second.
Justus emerged from the two races with the series point lead over Walsh going into this Saturday night's event at Indianapolis Raceway Park , in conjunction with the Budweiser "Night Before the 500" Classic MCI WorldCom National Midget Car Race. F2000 practice at IRP starts at 1 pm and qualifying begins at 2:30. A 50-lap feature is planned at 7:15 pm.
