Rick Treadway of Indianapolis, Ind., led all 50 laps to win Wednesday night's USAC Regional Midget Car race at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Driving his MCI WorldCom/Sunoco/Miller Lite/McClure Oil/Sanders Sports Marketing Gaerte, he started on the pole and never looked back, beating Daryl Campbell to the finish by a car length.
Campbell, who spun on lap 34, came back to challenge Treadway at the end but finished second ahead of Jason Atkinson, David Fuhrman and John Batts. Campbell emerged from the event with the series point lead going into next Wednesday night's (May 17) races at the 1/5-mile paved oval.
Joe Justice and Treadway won the two 15-lap preliminary heat races. Matt Lux escaped injury in a flip on the 13th lap of the feature.
