Legendary Colorado band to play at Northern Light Series event at Pikes Peak
FOUNTAIN, Colo.- Popular musical group Big Head Todd & the Monsters will perform at Pikes Peak International Raceway after the Radisson Indy 200 on June 18, track officials announced.
The concert will be free to all ticket holders for the annual Indy Racing Northern Light Series race at the 1-mile oval. An MCI WorldCom USAC National Midget Series event also will take place that day, providing a full schedule of racing and musical entertainment.
Combining a blend of rock, blues, R&B and soul, the Colorado-based band - featuring Todd Park Mohr (guitars/keyboards), Rob Squires (bass) and Brian Nevin (drums) - began playing together while students at Columbine High School near Denver. They began refining their music by playing at venues throughout Colorado and then around the country.
The bands first major release, "Sister Sweetly," went platinum after its 1993 release. That album was followed-up by a 1994 release, "Strategem," a 1997 release, "Beautiful World," and their 1998 release, "Live Monsters."
"Partnering one of Colorados finest bands with the cars and stars of the Indy 500 will make for a great day of entertainment," said PPIR President Rob Johnson. "Given the type of music Big Head Todd & the Monsters plays, we think they will appeal to everyone attending the Radisson Indy 200. Its a great way to treat dad to a fun Fathers Day."
