A total of 33 Pro Stock Truck drivers started the first day of qualifying. The track has been resurfaced, which gave teams a new obstacle.

John Coughlin was the first of the two JEG'S Mail Order Chevy S-10's to take on the quarter mile battlefield. He ran a 7.558 at 178.47 mph. John was the third quickest and fifth fastest of the first qualifying session. He landed in the No. 3 spot.

"It's a great feeling to make such a strong run coming right out of the trailer," said John. "We will spend the rest of the weekend fine tuning our set up."

Mike ran a 7.602 at 177.79 mph. He was the fifth quickest and eighth fastest of the first session.

"We were a little more aggressive with the set up in my truck than we were with John's," noted Mike. "We will tone it down a little and work off of data from both JEG'S machine to improve."

John started the second session sitting in the No. 3 spot. He did not improve and landed in the No. 4 position.

"I just got loose out there and knew that it was better to put the clutch in," explained John. "I knew that we were already in the field pretty solid. We will have two more qualifying sessions tomorrow to improve."

The team put more wing angle on Mike's truck after seeing John's run. Mike ran a 7.557 at 177.70 mph. He was the second quickest and fourth fastest of the session. Mike jumped over his brother to take the No. 3 spot.

"That was a much better run," noted Mike. "We will work on improving tomorrow."
