NHRA: Mike Coughlin Finishes Second And The Team Turns Around Program

The JEG'S Mail Order Pro Stock Trucks came out swinging this weekend. Both John and Mike qualified in the top half of the field, No. 5 and No. 6 respectfully.

John Coughlin faced off against Taylor Lastor in round one. Lastor took the starting line advantage by .003 seconds as the two Chevy S-10 raced to the big end. John turned on the win light by running a 7.525 at 179.33 mph.

"The JEG'S machine is running great," commented John. "We will just keep doing our job as a team."

In the first round Mike Coughlin lined up against Rick Jones. Mike left the starting line first and never looked back. He ran a 7.512 at 179.06 mph and advanced to the second round.

"This a much better way to spend your Sunday's," said Mike about winning his first round of the year.

John faced Greg Stanfield in the second round. Coughlin took the starting line advantage and turned on the win light. He ran a 7.547 at 179.14 mph.

"The team is doing a great job with the set up," explained John. "We are all working toward the same goal."

In the second round Mike took on Steve Johns. The reaction time advantage off of the starting line went to Johns by .004 seconds. Mike ran a 7.549 at 178.35 mph and took the win light.

"The guys are doing a great job," commented Mike. "It's great to see hard work pay off!"

John lined up next to Randy Daniels in the semifinal round. The starting line advantage went to Coughlin by .050 seconds. He ran a 7.559 at 179.04 mph and lost by .013 seconds.

"What a weekend," commented John. "This is a real credit to our program and everyone involved who has worked so hard."

In the semifinal round Mike faced Bob Panella. Coughlin took the starting line advantage and won on a holeshot by .032 seconds. He ran a 7.526 at 179.23 mph.

Everyone has been working so hard. It's great to see such a positive step forward with our program," noted Mike.

The final round put Mike Coughlin and Randy Daniels head-to-head. His final round appearance marked the third time in his short professional career. Mike grabbed the starting line advantage by .003 seconds. Both Chevy S-10's raced side-by-side to the big end. Daniels took the win light by .003 seconds.

"That was as close as it gets, it was a great drag race," stated Mike. "We had a great weekend and made a big move up in the points."
