DETROIT - IMG Motorsports, organizers of the Tenneco
Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit, announced today tickets would go on sale
to the public for the 2000 race on Friday, March 17 at 9:00 a.m.
The Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit has moved back to its traditional early summer date this year. The CART FedEx Championship Series event will take place on the temporary circuit at the scenic Belle Isle Park, June 16-18, 2000.
Tickets are still available in all grandstand seating locations. Weekend reserved seats (good for admission on Saturday and Sunday) range from $45 to $105. General admission grandstand ticket prices are $22 on Saturday and $30 on Sunday.
Friday will again be "Ford Free Prix Day." All general admission seating is free that day courtesy of the Ford Motor Company. Also, general admission for children 12 and under is free throughout the weekend when accompanied by an adult.
The 2000 race will mark the 19th running of the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit. Last year, nearly 140,000 race fans witnessed the high speed action of Champ Car racing. The Motor City's largest annual sporting event features some of the world's top open-wheel racers like defending race champion Dario Franchitti, Michael Andretti, Kenny Brack, Gil de Ferran, Adrian Fernandez, Christian Fittipaldi, Juan Montoya, Max Papis, Paul Tracy, and Jimmy Vasser.
In addition to Sunday's CART FedEx Championship Series race, the weekend schedule will feature four additional support series. The Johnson Controls 100 featuring the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series, the Barber Dodge Pro Series, the Dayton Indy Lights Championship and two Neon Charity Challenge races round out the weekend schedule. Practice and qualifying begins on Friday for all race groups.
