Coughlin Brothers Will Go Head-to-Head In First Round Of Pro Stock Truck
Today began the final day of qualifying for the Pro Stock Truck class. The air temperature was a little cooler, however there was more humidity in the air.
There were 32 drivers who battled for the sixteen available qualifying positions. The Pro Stock Truck brother duo of John and Mike Coughlin are ready to do battle tomorrow on raceday. However, they will get to face off against eachother in a battle of the brothers.
Mike Coughlin began the third qualifying session sitting in the No. 8 slot. Coughlin and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy S-10 made an improvement in his qualifying time. However, he landed in the No. 10 spot after the third session. Mike was the eighth quickest in the third session.
Mike explained, "We have been making competitive runs and gaining more data all weekend, which will help us tomorrow. The fine tuning that we are doing right now will make the difference on raceday."
John Coughlin and his yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Chevy S-10 are running very consistent. John commented, "The setup that the guys put into the truck is responding very well to the track conditions. We are using all of the data from both of the JEG'S Mail Order Trucks to better help the performance of both yellow and black Chevy S-10's"
John came into the third qualifying session sitting in the No. 4 position. Coughlin continued, "We made a nice run during the third session, but we could have been a little bit more aggressive. We are off to a great start." John slipped to the No. 5 spot after the third session.
During the final qualifying session John Coughlin and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy S-10 improved two spots and he landed into the No. 3 slot. John noted, "This DART powered Chevy S-10 is really running consistent. The guys really have a great handle on the setup for the conditions that we have."
Mike Coughlin and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy S-10 slipped down to the number fourteen position. Mike said, "The run just felt different from inside the truck. We will look at all of our data and make adjustments."
Coughlin Brothers On Racing Eachother:
John Coughlin who will have lane choice over his younger brother Mike said, "Obviously our goal is for us not to meet until the final round. However, we do know that one of the Chevy S-10 JEG'S Mail Order Pro Stock Trucks will go to the next round."
Mike commented on racing his brother, "I really don't focus on who I'm racing. My goal is to win the round and get lane choice for the next round."
