PHOENIX -- Tony Hunt makes his United States Auto Club USAC) Silver Bullet Series debut at this weekend's Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Raceway. The 1998 USAC Western States Sprint Car rookie of the year, Hunt has the driving experience and seat time to take his racing to the next level.

"We're anxious to get going," said Hunt, who also will run a full Western States schedule this season. "The winter seems to get longer and longer every year, but once you start testing, the adrenaline starts running again -- you feel rejuvenated."

The USAC Silver Bullet Series, which makes 14 stops this season, has had 67 different race winners and 22 driving champions in 223 events since its inception in 1971.

Hunt is the only driver in USAC history to have competed in Formula Russell, Formula 2000, Three-quarter Midget, Midget and the Silver Bullet series.

No stranger to Phoenix International Raceway, Hunt raced at the 1.51-mile road course in a 1992 USAC Formula 2000 event, logged seat time in full-bodied stock cars as part of his Fast Track driving school instruction in 1992 and competed in the 1998 USAC Sprint Car event.

"I've been in several different types of cars on this track, so I really know the ins and outs," Hunt said. "We were very happy with our testing here, so we are optimistic about this weekend."
