IRL: Pep Boys Indy Racing League Medical Update

INDIANAPOLIS - An update of the conditions of driver Sam Schmidt and crew member Tracy Hash, injured during the Mall.com 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, issued by Dr. Henry Bock, Pep Boys Indy Racing League director of medical services:

Treadway Racing driver Schmidt underwent additional surgery on his right foot Monday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis under the guidance of Dr. Kevin Scheid. Schmidt should be released from the hospital Thursday or Friday, Bock said.

Schmidt suffered a fractured left foot and a fractured toe on his right foot in an accident during the race Oct. 17.

Hubbard-Immke crew member Hash should remain in Methodist Hospital for another seven to 10 days, Bock said. Hash suffered a compound fracture of the left leg above the ankle in a pit-road accident during practice Oct. 16.
