SHREVEPORT, LA.-- If Dale Brinsfield had a choice about
the 1999 season, he'd just as soon to skip the first part and the last
part. The Greensboro, NC.,-based, driver rebounded admirably from a
preseason testing crash and by mid-season, was in the top ten of the Pro
Modified points. However, in the last two races of this season, the Dylan
Mortgage-sponsored entry fell short in qualifying. His latest shortcoming
took place at the season-ending, IHRA Mopar Parts World Finals in
Shreveport, La.
Brinsfield had every intention of stepping up from his last DNQ performance when qualifying at Red River Raceway. He proved to be on the right road in the first session with a 6.522/215.89. During the second session, he remained consistent with a 6.528/216.62.
Brinsfield completely redid his intake overnight and the move didn't improve his status as he ran a 6.522/215.37. He did improve during the final session, but it was too little, too late with a 6.489/215.51 for a DNQ.
Dylan Mortgage is based in Wilmington, N.C., and employs a staff of 300. They host offices in such states as both the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. According to Caviness, a vast expansion this year will bring new venues such as Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma and Virginia. Dylan is no stranger to championships, as it currently sponsors the two-time national champion in organized softball.
