NHRA: JEGS must wait until Sunday to continue Pro Stock Qualifying

The Pro Stock class finally got to take on the quarter mile battle field of Memphis Motorsports Park. The first eighteen cars made their first qualifying runs before additional rain took over again. NHRA's safety safari quickly went to work on drying the racing surface. There were numerous windows to dry the track, but the rain would come back each time that the track was dry. Finally, a heavy down pour started that put a 2 hour hold on the qualifying.

Troy was in the third pair after the rain delay, he was in the right lane. The #24 yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order entry launched from the starting line and took off down the middle of the groove. The car spun the tires a little at half track as it search for traction.

Troy said, "The most important thing is that we made a full pass and did not have to abort the run, which gave us the data that we needed to fine tune the setup. The car was a little loose at half track, which hurt us." Troy landed in the seventeen spot after the first session.

Jeg took of the left lane in the first session. The JEG'S machine darted off of the starting line and followed the groove all the way to the big end. Jeg marched up to the number four position after the first qualifying session.

Jeg said, "We made a good run and we have a great baseline, gathering as much data as you can will be important to running well here."

During the second session Troy was in the left lane. The #24 JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass took off like a rocket from the starting line. The car made a little wiggle with the rear of the car at the transition and then darted down the middle of the groove.

Troy marched up to the number two position. Coughlin said, "The guys did a great job with the setup and I did my job. I am looking forward to raceday."

Toward the end of the second session another storm took over the sky above the Memphis Motorsports Park facility, which put an end to the qualifying for the night. There were eight cars remaining to go down the track who lost the second qualifying session after it was canceled, Jeg Coughlin was one of the unlucky drivers.

All professional classes will have one qualifying run tomorrow morning, with the exception of Pro Stock Truck.
