Rain forced cancellation of the October 2 "Heroes of Sprint Car
Racing
Classic" at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill. The race,
sponsored
by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa, would have
been
USAC's first at the 1/2-mile dirt track since Tony Stewart's victory there
in 1995.
The Stoops Freightliner USAC Sprint Car Series is scheduled to conclude on Sunday afternoon, October 24, with the "Sammy Sessions Memorial" at the Winchester (Ind.) Speedway. The MCI WorldCom USAC National Midget Cars share the day's bill with 33-lap feature events on tap for both at the 1/2-mile paved oval.
