USAC: Bloomstran 'Stable', Undergoing Burn Treatment

22 July 1999

Kevin Bloomstran of Lebanon, Ohio, injured during Saturday's 100-mile USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet Championship race at the Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway, is continuing treatments at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Burn Center in Allentown, Pa.

Kevin is in "stable" condition and is expected to remain at the Burn Center for several weeks to undergo further treatment.

A rear brake rotor in Kevin's car damaged his fuel cell which caused a fuel leak leading to a fire which consumed the brake lines and invaded the cockpit area. After halting his car on the backstretch and exiting the car he was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

The Nazareth race marked Kevin's third appearance in the 1999 Coors Light Silver Bullet Series and his first feature start.
