USAC/NASCAR: Tony Hunt Teams Up with Cotter Group For Sponsorship Search

9 July 1999

HARRISBURG, N.C. (July 9, 1999) -- Cotter Group will lead the sponsorship search for United States Auto Club (USAC) driver Tony Hunt.

The Harrisburg company will be seeking a full-time sponsor for Hunt in the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division or the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA).

Hunt competed in the NASCAR Winston West Series in 1993, where he consistently qualified in the top 10. While serving as an instructor for the Richard Petty Driving Experience from 1996 to 1998, the 27-year-old driver logged more than 10,000 miles at some of NASCARs finest facilities, including Lowes Motor Speedway at Charlotte.

Hunt currently competes full-time in the USAC Western States Sprint Car Series and is ranked 10th in points. The Fair Oaks, Calif., native has competed in various USAC divisions since 1990. Hunts racing accomplishments include:

* 1998 -- USAC Western States Sprint Car Series Rookie-of-the-Year
* 1992 -- USAC Russell Racing Pro Series points champion
* 1991 -- USAC Formula 2000 Championship Series "Bay Area Driver-of-the-Year"

"Tony has a great attitude as well as the motivation and skills to be successful in NASCAR," said Todd Moore, executive vice president of Cotter Group. "He is the ideal representative for a company looking for an energetic spokesperson."

The young drivers next scheduled USAC Western Sprint Car Series event is July 10, at Silver State Raceway in Carson City, Nev.

Hunt will join the ranks of drivers Jerry Nadeau, Chad Little and Shawna Robinson, who are also represented by Cotter Group. Cotter Group has been successful in initiating sponsor relations from Iditarod sled dog racing to the high-profile NASCAR Winston Cup Series.
